With 2013 coming to a close tonight, I’d like to reflect on some of my favorite tracks from the past in a series of posts. First up, my favorites from 2011, when I first started using the fantastic app Shazam to keep track of my favorite songs. Without further ado, here are the tracks I tagged in 2011 (in chronological order of tag date):
- Sander van Doorn – Love is Darkness: fantastic vocals from Carol Lee made this a iTunes-worthy download for me
- Meck feat. Dino – Feels Like a Prayer: Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” was one of my favorite songs growing up and this remix just took it up a notch (or ten)!
- Activa presents Solar Movement – Eclipse (Mat Zo Remix): progressive trance at its best. I usually don’t like tracks over 4-5 minutes (though I realize that’s typical for PT) but this one is worth it.
- Mord Fustang – Lick the Rainbow: I’m not a fan of Ford Mustangs but Mord Fustang has been putting out killer tracks for a few years now; this one’s a shining example. Expect to see more posts on this guy.
- Erik Arbores – Bliss: this track comes to you courtesy of a 14 year old. Wow!
- Skrillex – Kill Everybody (Bare Noize Remix): this is not a good track to drive a fast car to – it’s an amazing one. Skrillex took dubstep to the next level with his Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites debut and absolutely blew up in the following year.
- Martin Solveig & Dragonette – Big in Japan (Les Bros Remix): this one’s for my vertically challenged friends. 😉 What was an already catchy tune got a nice beat upgrade (I dig the part starting at the 2:00 mark). Check out the official video for the original mix, too – love this guy’s productions.
Happy dancing and happy new year’s!
